Behind the Lens: Photographing the Visionaries of NOX Energy in Tenerife

I recently had the unique opportunity to photograph three exceptional young entrepreneurs: Axelle Moortgat, Louis Clermont, and Martin Michaux, the brilliant minds behind the Belgian-American start-up NOX Energy. This photoshoot took place at the Recovered Abandoned Solar Thermal Power Plant, a private location in Granadilla, Santa Cruz de Tenerife—an inspiring location that added a unique character to the session. Photographing these visionaries was not just another assignment; it was a window into their groundbreaking journey, one that has already captured international attention.

NOX Energy has recently made headlines by securing over a million dollars in funding within just three months. Their mission? To revolutionize energy flexibility by connecting renewable energy systems—like heat pumps and solar panels—directly to the energy market using cutting-edge artificial intelligence. As someone passionate about capturing authentic stories through my lens, I was deeply moved by their ambition and dedication.

The Session: Capturing Energy and Vision

Photographing Axelle, Louis, and Martin was an inspiring experience. At just 22 to 24 years old, their confidence and clarity of purpose were remarkable. During the session, we focused on creating images that reflected not only their professionalism but also their innovative spirit. Using Tenerife’s natural light and blue sky, I aimed to encapsulate the forward-thinking ethos of NOX Energy in every shot.

The result? Dynamic portraits that exude energy, collaboration, and determination. Seeing these images appear in articles and online stories about their success has been a proud moment for me as a photographer based in Tenerife. It’s a reminder of how storytelling through photography can amplify important narratives and inspire others.

A Personal Reflection

As a photographer, I often meet extraordinary people with bold dreams, and this session was no exception. What struck me most about Axelle, Louis, and Martin was their unwavering belief in their mission. Their story serves as a powerful reminder of how innovation and determination can drive meaningful change.

This experience also underscores one of my favorite aspects of being a photographer in Tenerife: connecting with diverse individuals who bring their visions and stories to this inspiring place to make an impact. Whether it’s entrepreneurs, families, or couples, every session is an opportunity to tell a unique story and capture the essence of who they are.
